Some results on quadratic hedging with insider trading

چکیده
We consider the hedging problem in an arbitrage-free financial market, where there are two kinds of investors with different levels of information about the future price evolution, described by two filtrations F and G = F ∨ σ(G) where G is a given r.v. representing the additional information. We focus on two types of quadratic approaches to hedge a given square-integrable contingent claim: local risk minimization (LRM) and mean-variance hedging (MVH). By using initial enlargement of filtrations techniques, we solve the hedging problem for both investors and compare their optimal strategies under both approaches. In particular, for LRM, we show that for a large class of additional non trivial r.v.s G both investors will pursue the same locally risk minimizing portfolio strategy and the cost process of the ordinary agent is just the projection on F of that of the insider. In the MVH setting, we study also some general stochastic volatility model, including Hull and White, Heston and Stein and Stein models. In this more specific setting and for r.v.s G which are measurable with respect to the filtration generated by the volatility process, we obtain an expression for the insider optimal strategy in terms of the ordinary agent optimal strategy plus a process admitting a simple backward-type representation.

Front - Running by Mutual Fund Managers : A Mixed Bag ?
This paper evaluates the welfare implications of front-running by mutual fund managers. It extends the model of Kyle (1985) to a situation in which the insider with fundamentals-information competes against an insider with trade-information and in which noise trading is endogenized. Noise traders are small investors trading through mutual funds to hedge non-tradable or illiquid assets. The insi...
متن کاملInsider trading restrictions and the stock market: Evidence from the Amsterdam Stock Exchange
This paper examines the effect of introducing insider tratlin~; restrictions on the behaviour of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. From 198'7 on, insiders are no longer allowed to trade two months before an annual earnings announcement. The results indicate that stocks became less liquid (when liquidity is measured by trading volume) when insiders were not allowed to trade. We also find some eviden...
متن کاملPricing and hedging Asian-style options on energy
We solve the problem of pricing and hedging Asian-style options on energy with a quadratic risk criterion when trading in the underlying future is restricted. Liquid trading in the future is only possible up to the start of a so-called delivery period. After the start of the delivery period, the hedge positions can not be adjusted anymore until maturity. This reflects the trading situation at t...
متن کاملQuadratic Hedging and Mean-Variance Portfolio Selection with Random Parameters in an Incomplete Market
This paper concerns the problems of quadratic hedging and pricing, and mean-variance portfolio selection in an incomplete market setting with continuous trading, multiple assets, and Brownian information. In particular, we assume throughout that the parameters describing the market model may be random processes. We approach these problems from the perspective of linear-quadratic (LQ) optimal co...
متن کاملComparing quadratic and non-quadratic local risk minimization for the hedging of contingent claims
In this note, I study further the approach introduced in [1] for the hedging of derivatives in incomplete markets via local risk minimization. A structure result is provided, which essentially shows the equivalence between non-quadratic risk minimization under the historical probability and quadratic local risk minimization under an equivalent, implicitly defined probability. Introduction First...
